Tonight was bitter/sweet ... on one hand, we were saying goodbye to our sweet friend Mary, but on the other hand, we enjoyed a fun night out with 9 wonderful moms! I know I speak for the rest of the gals there tonight when I say that we will all miss Mary very much. Mary is moving back to the Boston area where she'll be surrounded by family and friends, so we're happy for her that she's returning to her previous life. It was a pleasure getting to know her and her boys, William and Timmy and TPG on Friday mornings and Bookclub just won't be the same without her!
We met at Rosa Mexicano, a restaurant that opened a few months ago at the Riverside Square Mall in Hackensack. I actually went to this restaurant (one of the Manhattan locations) with John and his friend Mike 5 years ago tonight! It was the day after we went to the Army/Navy Football Game in Philadelphia. John used to live near Rosa Mexicano when he had an apartment in the city, so he used to go there often. It was funny because I tried to pay the bill by slyly handing the waitress a one hundred dollar bill, thinking it would cover it and leave her a nice tip ... when she looked at me strangely, I said "keep the change." John and Mike laughed so hard at me because I had no idea the bill was well over $100! Anyway, the food tonight was just as good as I remember it was back then ... and just as expensive!
A toast to Mary ~ I was the first to notice that we were all in sync with our color selection! Isn't it bizarre that 4 of us chose to wear green, 3 chose to wear beige, and 2 chose to wear brown? 3 colors amongst 9 women that were all earth tones? I thought it was pretty funny!
