They finally arrived!

Now, this is a family blog and I'd prefer to keep politics out of it, but I just had to post this picture. But of course, I have to give just a little background ... as most of you know, John is a proud member of the Republican party, and he's not afraid to show it! John has always been very interested in politics, since he has a deep-rooted love for this country. After losing everything they had in Cuba because of a dictator (Castro), his family moved to the United States and started over. They had nothing, but they worked hard and were prosperous in this land of opportunity. I've never met a more patriotic American and he's taught me that the freedoms we have here are a gift and shouldn't be taken for granted.

When the election got underway, John was very excited about the Republican candidates. His first choice was Senator Fred Thompson. Once he pulled out, John supported his next pick which was Rudy Giuliani. He was pretty sad when Giuliani pulled out of the race. So when it was time to vote in the primaries, he chose Mitt Romney over John McCain. So, what I'm trying to say is that McCain was his 4th pick for a Republican candidate, therefore he wasn't all that excited about throwing his support behind him ... until he chose his running mate, Sarah Palin! John is so excited that she is on the ticket with McCain! Every time she's on the news, he points her out to Reagan and says stuff like, "See Reagan, you could run for president one day!" John loves the idea of his girls growing up to be a mayor, a governor, a senator, or even the president. Don't worry, he's not completely obsessed with political careers ... he tells Reagan she can be a doctor too ;)

Anyway, as soon as McCain announced Palin would be his running mate, John ordered paraphernalia from the campaign site. Unfortunately, it took 2 whole weeks to get here, so John was getting very anxious about it. The UPS man rang the doorbell today and John and I practically knocked each other over to open the door ... we were both happy, since he got his yard signs, bumper stickers, and pins and I got Reagan's Halloween costume!

John ripped the box open and put the signs together ... I followed him outside and took this picture with my iPhone. If you can't tell what he's doing, it's a happy dance! The funny part is that he ordered 3 lawn signs and he's been asking me about all my Republican friends (i.e. "does she live on a busy street?"). None of my friends live on high-traffic streets, so it looks like he'll be strategically placing the 3rd sign on his cousin Pepito's lawn!
The election will be here before we know it, just two days after Avery celebrates her 1st birthday ~ how exciting!
