It wasn't one of Avery's proudest moments, but let's face it: it was inevitable. The girl puts EVERYTHING in her mouth, so it was only time before she would find the dog food.
This occurred while my parents were in town. My mom was watching her as I was cooking dinner ... she turned her back for a second, then caught Avery red-handed. The dog food was already in both fists, as well as in her mouth. Gross!!!! And I'm not blaming my mom for letting it happen - it could have happened under my watch too, since Avery crawls SO quickly. Also, now that we converted the office (which was also the place the dogs slept/ate) into Nila's bedroom, the dogs are now in the living room, which increases the chances of Avery getting to the food.
It's actually shocking that she made it to the bowl when there was food in it, since the dogs practically inhale their food the second it hits the floor. Turns out that Dawson was in the process of eating when Avery decided to explore the contents of the bowl. At least he was nice enough to get out of the way and share his food ... says a lot about his temperament.
Speaking of Dawson, he's such a funny dog ... since he's been sleeping in the living room, he's decided his favorite spot is this love seat. He usually gets cozy right where my mom is sitting in the above picture. He loves to snuggle up with anyone who will give him the slightest bit of affection, so my parents couldn't stop laughing when he tried to climb up, despite the fact that the couch was already to full capacity! He climbed up on the right side of my mom (my mom's left), then managed to wedge himself behind her, then come back through the middle of my parents. This dog of mine is no small lap dog ... he's a 75 pound boxer! Of course, he thinks he's the same size as his friend Verdell (the miniature schnauzer on my dad's lap).
He didn't mind that my mom was leaning back, practically sitting on him. He was perfectly happy to be cuddling up on the couch with my parents!
