Utah Bound!

It's true, we're headed to Utah! I thought I'd share the exciting news that we finally booked flights to Salt Lake City for our annual trip. We always spend the last weekend of June at Moon Lake (about two hours from Salt Lake) with all my cousins. We are really looking forward to this trip, since we haven't been to Salt Lake for almost a year! The past year has been kind of crazy, so we haven't been able to go anywhere: the obvious reason being that I was pregnant, and then we had a newborn. We wanted to go to SLC for Christmas, but Avery was only 7 weeks old and we didn't think it was a good idea to travel with her on an airplane. So, we decided to wait until March. Unfortunately, John's mother Nila has been experiencing some serious issues with her health since January, so we haven't felt good about leaving her until now.

When I was booking our flights, I was telling Reagan all about our upcoming trip to Utah and how we'd have to go on an airplane. The first thing she said was, "we'll need a ladder." At first I couldn't understand what she was saying; here I was talking about going on an airplane, going to Utah, seeing Nana and Grandpa and all her cousins, and she was concerned about a ladder? I couldn't make the connection. Finally I realized she was talking about the stairs that people sometimes use to get onto airplanes! Honestly, I have NO idea where she got this idea ... I'm assuming she saw something on TV? I pulled up this picture on the Internet and showed it to her:

Then I pointed to the stairs and asked, "what's this?" and she responded with, "that's a ladder. We need a ladder to go to Utah." I guess she'll be pretty disappointed when we get on the plane and there's no "ladder."

Now that we are a family of 4 (WOW, a family of FOUR! I'm still getting used to this!), we have to buy a seat for Reagan. Since this will be our first flight with 2 kids, we decided to redeem John's American Express points for three first-class tickets! I'm hoping this will alleviate some of the stress and anxiety that accompanies flying with children. For the first time, I'm really not that worried about it ... Reagan will have her own seat and she's starting to enjoy watching movies. Avery is such a mellow, easy-going little girl that I'm hardly worried about how she'll behave. And FIRST CLASS! This will only be my 3rd time ever flying first class and as you can tell, I'm pretty excited about it. It will be so nice to have the extra room and the attention of the flight attendants if we should need their help.
