John's best friend Mike Nadal and his son Dean came to stay with us last night. Michael and John have known each other for a very long time, since they grew up together in the same neighborhood. They both moved to Miami, Florida for college and Michael never left. He brought his 13 year old son Dean to New York/New Jersey for a fun weekend of sight-seeing. Dean hasn't been here since he was really young, so he loved staying in Manhattan and feeling the energy of the city.
Yesterday (Saturday), they lucked out with a beautiful day, so they put the top down on the convertible rental car and drove all around, seeing NYC and NJ. Michael showed Dean his old stomping grounds (Hoboken/Union City area) and Dean was blown away by the views of the city across the river.
When they arrived last night, I couldn't believe how grown-up Dean was! I met him exactly 4 years ago when John and I were dating and took a vacation to Florida. Obviously, there's a HUGE difference between a 9-year-old and a 13-year-old boy! John and I were really impressed by what a good kid he's grown up to be. Anyway, I made dinner while the boys caught up and Reagan got to know them. We had a great time, so enjoy the pictures!
When we woke up this morning, one of the first things Reagan said was, "Let's go say hi to Michael and Dean!" We took some pictures and said our goodbyes, since they had an agenda to follow (they were looking forward to their helicopter tour of New York City ... and I was jealous!).
