First day at the pool!

Last year and this year, we bought a membership to the Stoneybrook Pool. This is the town pool for the neighboring town of Hillsdale, but it's only about a mile from our house. They allow non-residents to purchase memberships at a higher rate, so we decided to buy it since it's so close. It is a beautiful facility with one large pool for all ages with a waterslide attached, one lap pool for adults, one children's pool that is 3 feet deep, one deep pool with 2 diving boards, and then a gated toddler pool for infants and toddlers. There is also a playground, lots of grass, and a grill that serves hot food and cool desserts. It really is a fabulous pool, but I have a few complaints: for starters, the hours are horrible. During the week, it doesn't open until noon! They have swimming lessons going on in the mornings, so they can't have it open ... I understand why they do it, but come on! Noon is so late! It makes it pretty difficult to get to the pool before nap time. How I wish they'd open at 10AM. On the weekends, at least it opens at 11:00 AM ~ that one hour makes a big difference. My other complaint is that it's only open on the weekends from Memorial Day until the end of June because they wait for the kids to get out of school. I realize that most of the life guards are in high school, so they wouldn't be able to work during the weekdays, but it's really annoying. It's June, it's HOT right now, yet we can only use the pool on Saturdays and Sundays. My last complaint is about how crowded it gets on the weekends, but I'm sure that happens at just about every pool. So, today was the first time we got to the pool this summer. It was so hot outside and we needed some relief. I took Reagan by myself, so it was nice that I didn't have to juggle both kids (Avery stayed home with John so he could get some stuff done). Reagan loved the water, just as she did last summer, but I was kind of surprised by her cautiousness. She was kind of just taking it all in, watching the other kids and checking it all out. I'm sure she'll behave completely differently by the end of the summer.
