LTN Fundraiser in Hoboken

Friday night was our second (and final) fundraising event for the Light the Night Walk. Meredith, Nicole and I held the fundraiser at a restaurant/bar in Hoboken called The Quays. Although it wasn't quite as successful as our first fundraiser (the garage sale), it was definitely more fun and a lot less work!

Our babysitter Gina came just before 6:00, then John and I left and picked up Nicole and Chris. I was pouring rain, so we immediately hit traffic on our way to Hoboken. It was bumper-to-bumper on every road, so we didn't arrive at The Quays until about 8:05! We had planned on getting there early to sit down and eat dinner, but we were lucky to get there on time, due to the traffic!
Meredith was smart, she took the train from Ridgewood and got there early ... she met Kevin there (who drove in from the city after work), so they sat down and had dinner. Then Kevin surprised her with a cake, since it was her birthday that day!

The bar ... we charged everyone $50 at the door; $35 went to the Quays for an open-bar wristband, and $15 was given to us for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society

Nicole was teasing John ... their fathers are both from Spain, so she likes to call John her big brother

The night that Chris and Nicole came over to make gourmet pizzas, we had music playing and when the song "Viva la vida" by Coldplay came on, we all commented on how much we like the song, even though we hate the band Coldplay. It became a joke between John and Chris, how the song just makes you want to dance, so when it came on at the bar, I had to take a picture of them dancing to it (mockingly).

Meredith loves black & white cookies, so Nicole and I got her a whole box of them for her birthday ... we put a candle in one and sang "happy birthday" to her ...

Happy Birthday Meredith!

The walk will be held on Saturday, September 27th at 5:30 pm. We participated in this walk last year and had such a wonderful time! If anyone would like to join us this year, please come! Register for the walk here, (you can join our team, called the Naratroopers ~ Meredith Caulfield is the team captain) or feel free to show your support by donating here to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. THANKS to everyone who has supported us in one way or another :)
