Daisy

Such a funny thing happened today with Reagan and I just have to post about it. I took her to a playdate this morning and then we met up with my friend Meredith. Meredith and I were pregnant together and she had her baby boy 6 weeks after I had Avery, cute little Quinn (DOB 12-17-07). She also has a 3 year old named Timmy who is Reagans buddy. When we were pregnant, we often met at Starbucks after dropping off Timmy and Reagan at preschool ... this was always enjoyable adult time for us.

I told her I was going to come over after the playdate to bring her some diapers (Avery has already outgrown her size 1's and is now into size 2's!) and she said she was ready to get out of the house. It was her first time driving (she's been recovering from a c-section) and she met me in Ridgewood for lunch. We had a delicious lunch and had a great time catching up. Before we left the cafe, we discussed our plans for tomorrow morning, since Timmy and Reagan will be going back to preschool. Instead of Starbucks, we decided to meet for pedicures, because I haven't had one since the end of October and she said she had a great new place for us to go. She told me where the nail salon was and told me the name of it was "Daisy."

Just after Meredith said the word 'Daisy,' Reagan got the funniest look on her face ... then it was as if she was trying to sing a song, singing "Daisy, daisy ..." It quickly occurred to me that she was remembering the commercial for Daisy Sour Cream! Now, this wouldn't have surprised me if she'd seen the commercial recently, but she hasn't seen it for at least a month and a half ... I think it was shortly after Avery was born when we were watching a program that we had recorded using TIVO. The program was sponsored by Daisy Sour Cream, so the commercial came on at each break. Reagan has become quite accustomed to TIVO, so if she likes something, she asks to see it again. I rewound and replayed this commercial many times that day and she tried to sing along. Having TIVO, we rarely watch commercials, so we haven't seen it since. Anyway, once I realized what she was trying to sing, I did my best to help her with the song.

We were both trying to sing the song as we got in the car to go home, but neither of us really remembered how it went. Reagan was getting tired, as it was almost time for her nap. On the way home she started getting frustrated with my pathetic attempt to sing the song and she asked to hear it on my phone. I've been playing music for her on my new favorite iPhone when we're driving in the car and she loves this. She's growing up in a world where we have just about everything at the click of a button (digital cameras, TIVO, iPhones, etc) and this is all she knows. She couldn't understand why I didn't have the "Dollop of Daisy" song right at my fingertips!

And then it occurred to me that maybe I did in fact have the song right at my fingertips! So when I stopped at a red light, I tapped on the little button that said "You Tube" and searched for "Dollop of Daisy." To my amazement, up came the commercial and once again, Reagan's request was satisfied with the click of a button. This, of course, only reinforced my love for my new phone!

When we got home, I recorded a lot of video of her enjoying the song. I edited all the footage and put together this mini movie:

Sorry for such a long-winded explanation, but I have a difficult time being brief.

Now it's time to get to bed, since it's very late and I have to have Reagan to preschool by 9 AM!
