Avery on 12-29-07On Monday (1-7-08), John and I took Avery to her 2 month well visit. She weighed 11 pounds, 6 ounces and measured 21 3/4 inches long. When she was born, she weighed 6 lbs 10 oz. It's shocking to think that in 9 1/2 weeks, she's gained 4 lbs, 13 oz. ... almost 5 pounds! Maybe this isn't shocking for most parents, but for us, it's new territory. Reagan was born 7 weeks premature and weighed 4 pounds, 2 ounces. She was 5 months old by the time she was the size Avery is now at 2 months old.
Because Reagan was so small, I spent a great deal of time wishing she would just get bigger. With Avery, I'm allowing myself to enjoy this infant stage and all the simple pleasures that accompany it. Exchanging stares with this precious little baby brings me so much joy. I love hearing her coos and all the other funny noises she makes. Watching her break out a huge smile when her big sister talks to her is a proud feeling that cannot be expressed by words. And finally, letting her fall asleep on my chest is ever so lovely and completely priceless. It is all these things that remind me why I absolutely love being a mother. It is the most gratifying experience I'll ever have in this life and I can't help but feel truly blessed. There are so many women who struggle to or can't get pregnant, and so many others who have children with illnesses. I feel so very fortunate that I was able to experience the joys of pregnancy and end up with two healthy children. And you know what the best part is? I found a man who loves being a parent just as much as I do! John is the most incredible father and I feel so lucky to have him as my husband on this journey through parenthood.

She is so cute! She has the biggest smile I've ever seen on an infant. I'm so happy that you're blogging again. It's great to keep up with your cute family. Now if we could just get Camille to start blogging!!
